Ann Curry
Ann Curry, an American journalist and photojournalist who has covered wars and natural disasters for more than 45 years. She focuses on the human suffering suffered by people living in these regions. Curry has covered wars across the globe, including Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry, (born November 19th, 1956 in Agana American journalist and television news reporter and anchor who was best known for her work as a correspondent for the Today program, which was a morning news program aired through the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry was noted especially for her work on reporting human rights issues in war-stricken countries as well as on natural catastrophes. Curry has a father who was a U.S. Navy sailor and an Japanese woman. Her mother was working alongside their father during Japan in the aftermath of World War II. Her father was in the military and her family had to move around often. Curry completed high school within Ashland Oregon. In 1978 she graduated at her school at the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. The exposure she received to a variety of cultures and experiences in her early years probably contributed to her empathy in her approach to global issues. Her career in broadcasting began with an internship with KTVL Channel 10 Medford in Oregon. at the age of 22, she eventually became the first journalist female at the station. She subsequently moved to the position of an anchor as well as reporter at KGW which was an NBC affiliate in Portland, Oregan. The following year, she relocated to Los Angeles as a reporter for KCBS-TV. She was awarded the award of two Emmy Awards during the six years she spent with this station.
